He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur W. Alt and Elizabeth Alt (Nadler); his grandchildren, Colin Vanderpool and Shannon Vanderpool; his great grandchild Layne Vanderpool; his siblings, Marie Niese (Willie), Jim Alt, Kenny Alt (Dolly), Dean Alt and Bill Alt (Pat); and his in-laws, Junior Shinabery and Ruth Alt.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis I. Altstaetter of Michael's Catholic Church; his children, Keith Alt (Nancy) of Shelby, Brian Alt (Karen) of Shelby, Brenda Williams (Jim Brush) of Columbus, Janice Alt of Shelby, Chris Alt (Josh Peterson) of Ashland and Angie Vogt (Gary) of Shelby; his grandchildren, Scott Alt (Brooke), Jeff Alt, Katie Putnam (Rob), Veronica Distl (Tyler), Alex Alt (Brooke), Austin Alt (Jenna), Jessica Roy (Avigit), Jennifer Colasaco (George), Blake Edington (Stephanie), Kaylah Fulk (Christopher), Kirby Vogt and Allie Vogt; his great grandchildren, Cameron, Collins, Tyson Alt, Payton, Paxton, Karlen, Rhett, Korie Putnam, Rudy, Landrie Alt, Lincoln, Lucas Distl, Addi, Mason Alt, Florence Roy, Juliette, Adelyn, Luke Colasaco, Whitney Vanderpool (Chandler Durbin), Leah, Jessie Vanderpool (Lauren), Kyle, Karissa Rowlinson, Olivia, Zoe Edington, Ryan Gardner, Landon, Alaina Fulk and Payson O'Shell; his great great grandchildren, River, Raina and Radd Durbin; his siblings, Teresa Shinabery, Frank Alt (Vera) and Arthur Alt, Jr.; his sister-in-law Ursula Alt; and his caregiver Cheyenne Malicoate. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
