She was predeceased by: her parents, Junior Dent and Mabel Dent (Henry); and her sister Marilyn Siebott. She is survived by: her daughter Dorothy; her husband Walter Steele; her children, Douglas Steele (Debbie) of Shelby, Barbara Gonzales (Lalo) of Shelby, Nancy Lewis (John) of Shelby, Steve Steele (Julie) of Kent and Matthew Steele (Jackie) of Greeneville, TN; her sisters, Beverly Rakestraw (Bob) of Oxford, FL and Virginia Moffett (Dean) of The Villages, FL; and her close friends, Janene Bushey, Missy Saunder and Robin Smedley. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

In place of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the family in care of Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory to offset funeral expenses or be made to the American Cancer Society.
