He was predeceased by: his father Edward A. Kennedy; and his brothers, David and Dennis Kennedy. He is survived by: his mother LaRue Kennedy (Bailey); his son Shaun Lyons; and his siblings, Edward R. Kennedy, Debra Nicholas and Abbie Mayes (Jerri Gustafson). He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild.
