He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Jane Grossman; his children, Alan James, Robert Grossman (Rachel), Douglas Grossman-McKee (Anna) and Linda Carlson (late Eric); his daughter-in-law Cindy James; his grandchildren, Andrew James, Elizabeth Grossman, Susannah Grossman, Alex Grossman-McKee, Brent Grossman-Mckee (Catherine Borders), Morgan (Susie), Evan Grossman-McKee, Geoffrey Grossman-McKee and Chelsea Carlson; his great grandchildren, Briar, Esma, Juni and Claire McKee; his sister Nancy Hamel; and also, Alvin and Dorothy Grossman. He was also cherished by his family, friends.

In recent years when health problems forced her into a nursing home, Ron was by her side every single day (with only COVID causing a frustrating hiatus)—literally right up until the end: the day before he died, hours before he was admitted to the ICU, he had someone wheel him to her room so he could spend his usual visit with her.
