He was predeceased by: Nancy Jane George of Chicago. He is survived by: his parents, Philip Tobin and Joan Tobin; his brother Thomas Tobin (Gail) of Hudson, Ohio.; and also Melissa Lindland (Matthew). He is also survived by many other family members, and countless friends.

Hudson Community Foundation, Hudson Ohio, has established a charitable fund, "The Tobin Family Memorial Fund", to create scholarships in memory of the John Tobin family.
