He was predeceased by: his son Matthew John (Ruth Morrow); his parents, Raymond Merchant and Mary Merchant; and his siblings, Marie Prothero (Scott), Louise Harrat (Donald), Rita Merchant, Raymond E. "Gene" Merchant (Beverly), Helen Ann Nelson (Bob) and Jack Merchant (Novie).
He is survived by: his wife Rosemary Prendergast; his daughters, Ann Louise (Peter Eble), Karen Mary (Brian Coate) and Sarah Patricia (Pawan Divakarla); his grandchildren, Marie, Lilly, Madeline Merchant, Nicolas, Francis, Yvonne Eble, Katherine, Kelan, Connor Coate, Vivek and Krishna Divakarla; and his sister Monica Killgallon of Troy, NY.
