He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Schmidt and Dorothy Schmidt (Doran); his children, Kelly Schmidt, Sherry Varlas and Daniel Schmidt; and his grandson Michael Bulian.
He is survived by: his wife Gerelene Schmidt (McCormick) of Shadyside; and his children, Jonathan Schmidt of Shadyside, Beth Robb (Greg) of Kent and Kimberly Prisner (Jeff) of Mozart, WV. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
