He is survived by: his children, Barbara of Florida, Tammy Hunt of Florida, Walter W. Swank Jr. of Iowa, Dale Fletcher (Mickey), William Carlisle (Mary) and Michael Carlisle; his sisters, Ruth Richards of Virginia, Eleanor Carter of Sebring and Oralee Baker of Sebring; his granddaughter Sophia Carlisle; and his close friend Barbara Ormiston. He is also survived by eleven other grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, twenty-nine nieces and nephews.
