He was predeceased by: his parents, John Rhoads and Inez Rhoads (Davidson); his siblings, Mary Waits, Norma Stafford, Flossie Henson, Charles "Chub" Rhoads and John Jr.; his grandchildren, Tiffany Kaye Rhoads, Justin Michael Rhoads and Paris Spring Rhoads; and his great grandchild Hunter Wayne Roush.
He is survived by: his wife Judith Rhoads (Poole); his children, Tim Rhoads (Penny) of Georgetown, Rob Rhoads of Peebles, Tammy Evans (Jeff) of Peebles, Teresa Kelch (Mike) of Sardinia and Tracy Turner of Tennessee; and his sisters, Ann Cline (Jerry) and Dorothy "Suze" Coleman (Alan).
