He was predeceased by: his parent James Carter; his wife Easter Spangler Carter; and his children, James Carter, Bill Cook and Teresa White.
He is survived by: his parent Clara Maples Carter; his son Austin Davenport of Huntington, WV; and his daughter-in-law Barbara Cook of Scottown. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
