He was predeceased by: his parents, Roddy Curtis Mackey and Margaret Lucille Bennett Mackey; his grandson Johnny Knight; and his brother David Curtis Mackey. He is survived by: his friend George Jones; his wife Mildred "Elaine" Hinson Mackey; his daughters, Lisa Najera (Carlos Paz) of Lancaster, SC and Lori Waid (John, Jr) of Scio, OH; his grandchildren, John Waid III, Jimmy Kenneth Knight and Jessica Michelle Waid; his great grandchild James Eugene Knight; and his siblings, Gail Terry (Gilbert) of McBee, SC, Patty Gentiles (Rudy) of Western, SC, Mandy Hammonds (Alvin) of Lancaster, SC and Tim Mackey (Tammy) of Lancaster, SC. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
