He was predeceased by: his parents, Coleman Lee and Bertha Marshall (Hyatt); his son Brooks Hampton; and his sisters, Mattie "Mae" Brown, Lillie Bell Sheppard, Lucy, Irby, Maggie "Phine" Golden and Mildred A. Mickles.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Marshall (Keys); and his children, Carlen, Joe, Jonathan, Willie, Larry, Antonio, Vera, Andrea, Lisa, LaTonia and Tamara. He is also survived by siblings lives (13); 29 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; brother.
