He was predeceased by: his parents, James Smith and Viola Smith (Hendrix); his wife Eleanore "Bootsie" Smith; his daughters, Linda Smith and Shirley Smith; and his siblings, Betty James Trippett, Edith Hepner, Barbara Anglin, Robert Smith, James Smith and Frank Smith.
He is survived by: his stepdaughter Karen Ritter; and his sister Mary Carpenter. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; twenty eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
