He was predeceased by: his parents, Virginia Muth (Berry) and Melvin W. Berry; and his brothers, Gene Comer and Robert Muth. He is survived by: his wife Brenda; his daughters, Tracie Kidwell (Jason) and Stephanie Harvey (Christopher); his grandchildren, Abygail, Danica and Mason; his siblings, Phil Berry (Bobby), Mike Berry (Linda), Ronny Ray Watt, Rick Shroyer (Karen) and Nancy Aceto (John); and his brother-in-law Rick Pritchard (Elizabeth). He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
A founding father of the Bikers Memorial Fund, Melvin was also a lifetime member of the VFW #2529, AMVETS #17, Eagles #444, and American Legion #83.
