He was predeceased by: his parents, Mack Industries (Betty Gilmer Sr.) and Brown Industries; his wife Gloria Gilmer; his siblings, Dave, Sam, Lynch, Isaac, Mann Gilmer, Lucille, Sadie, Mary, Louise and Elosie Gilmer; and his stepdaughter Carla Matthews.
He is survived by: his close friend Dorothy Hayes; his daughters, Charita Gilmer and Maliea Gilmer Pirtle; his stepsons, Jesse W. Jackson of Columbus, OH and Francis W. Alexander; his brother Wyatt Gilmer; his stepsons, Shannon (Kat) of Sandusky, Jason of Sandusky, James "Tank" Hayes of Sandusky and Gary Hayes (Annie) of Norwalk, OH; and his stepgrandson Jason Hayes Jr. Sandusky. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
