He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice E. Shatzer and Genevieve L. Shatzer (VanMeter); and his brother Gene Shatzer. He is survived by: his children, Terry L. Shatzer (Cathy) of Charleston, SC, Robin Darr (Tom) of Fremont, Kimberly Moyer (Jim) of Fremont, Gena Brickner (Buddy) of Tiffin and Cynthia Mahaken (Bill) of Littleton, CO; and his former wife Shirley Robbins. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
