He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto Frederick and Lucille Gast (Geiger); and also, Alvin Gast (Gladys Hayes), Genevieve Schoepflin Gast, George Gast, Junior Gast (Iretta Lilje), Leonard Gast, Eileen Reedy (John), Annetta Youngless (Myron), Grace Gast and Janis Krugh (Leroy).
He is survived by: his children, Michael Gast, Richard "Rick" Gast (Barbara) of Castalia and Sheryl "Sheri" of Avon; his grandchildren, Kirsten Bennett (Joe), Colton Gast, Kendra Gast and Macie Graham; and his sisters, Mary Lou, Irma Nimrichter and Lilah Garlock (Irvin). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
