He was predeceased by: his brothers, Frank and Gary Bates. He is survived by: his wife Delores Bates (Gordon); his children, Donald Bates of Bethlehem, Sam Bates (Debbie) of Salem, Steve Bates (Dorina) of Salem and Kathy McGhee of Salem; and his brothers, Oral and Glenn Bates. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.
