He was predeceased by: his daughter Susan C. Poynter; and his brothers, Cliff and Eugene Poynter. He is survived by: his wife Carol Poynter (Seevers); his children, Donna Tanner (Harold) of Largo, FL, Kathy McManamon of Columbus, OH and Merle L. Poynter II (Michelle) of Medina, NY; his grandchildren, Gregory, Christopher, Rebecca, Daniel, Matthew, Samuel, Tiffany, Melanie, Kylie and Mackenzie; and his siblings, Carol Knisley, Chuck, Coleman and Ray Poynter.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 12th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Stark Memorial (1014 E State St, Salem, OH 44460). A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Lisbon Church of the Nazarene (505 N Market St, Lisbon, OH 44432).
