He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon E. "Bunker" Matthews and JoAnn Carpenter (Long); his wife Jacqueline K. "Jackie" Matthews (Parrish); his son Daniel Allen Matthews; and his half-siblings, Linda Saterfield and Tom Young.
He is survived by: his daughters, Kimberly Wilkes (Herman) of Lisbon and Stacey Caldwell (Rich) of Salem; his stepdaughter Tonya Burkett (Bill) of Salem; his sisters, Kerry Antram (Richard) of New Waterford, Verna Jo Jones (David) of Columbiana and Tracy Whitacre (Richard) of Leetonia; his grandchildren, Kayla, Kyle, Makenzi, Madison, Kaleb, Tristin and Emma; and his great grandchildren, Jaxon and Oakley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
