He was predeceased by: his parents, John William and Catherine May Poffenberger (McDonald); his wife Lois June Poffenberger (Kirkland); and his son Mark Poffenberger. He is survived by: his sons, Neil of Hanover and Kirk (Jen) of Salem. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
