He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Russell C. Gibbs and Sara Ellen Gibbs (Pearce); his wife Margaret Works Gibbs; his children, Charles Pearce Gibbs of Freedom, Ellen Caruso of Canton, Emily Gibbs of Salem and Margaret Hoople (David) of Falmouth, Maine.; his grandson Jeremy Gibbs; his siblings, Elizabeth Thatcher, Nanee Bennett and James W. Gibbs; and his children, Eva Lunderquist and F. S. Swedish. He was also cherished by nine great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
