It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert E. Murray of Saint Clairsville, Ohio, born in Bethesda, Ohio, who passed away on October 25, 2020, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Albert Edward Murray and Mildred E. Shepherd; his grandfather William Shepherd (Francis Lucas Shepherd); his wife Brenda L. Murray (Moore); his sons, Robert Edward Murray (Kelly Strauss Murray), Jonathan Robert Murray and Ryan Michael Murray (Melanie Homan Murray); and his grandchildren, Julia Rose Murray, Colin Robert Murray, Jenna Ann Murray, Jillian Kathleen Murray, Grant Wesley Murray, Sophia Katerin Murray, Noelle Christine Murray and Evan Michael Murray.
In 2009, Mr. Murray made a gift to the West Virginia University Research Trust Fund which at the time represented the largest single donation in the fund's history, for the establishment of the Robert E. Murray Chairmanship of Mining and Engineering.
