He was predeceased by: his parents, Otties Smith and Anna Spurgeon Smith; his granddaughter Stacy Lowman; his brother Martin Smith; and his brothers-in-law, Bud Ryan and Jim Ryan.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Ryan Smith; his children, Ed Smith (Reggie) of Amanda, Jim Smith of Leesburg and Sharon Welsh (Rick) of Sabina; his grandchildren, Stephanie Hall (Simon), Christa Pontius (Brandon), Jimmy Smith (Kim), Amber McNulty (Dan), Mariah Overly (Andrew), Heather Simmons (Jared) and Nicole; his siblings, Katherine Pawley (Tom) and Raymond Smith (Edna); and his sisters-in-law, Gerri Smith and Patty Ryan. He is also survived by 21 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
