He was predeceased by: his nephew Bart Gardner. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Jean Hyatt Gardner; his children, Erica Kirk (Aron) and Elizabeth Olivieri (Victor); his grandchildren, Isabelle, Judah, Selah, Levi, Baby Kirk, Chloe, Micah and Hattie Olivieri; and his siblings, Edwin Gardner (Marlene) of Gainesville, Raymond Gardner of Covington and Jerry Gardner (Vonda) of Troy.
