He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Paul and Gladys Bernice Byrd (Scoby); his grandchildren, Ryan and Marie; his siblings, Maynard, Betty, Ruth, Louella, Hazel and Mary; and his sister-in-law Dale.

He is survived by: his wife Patsy Mae Byrd (Arthur); his children, Lori Duke (Jeff), Tina Coakley (Charles), Robert Byrd Jr., Samuel Byrd (Tonya), Deborah Williams (Craig) and Nathan Byrd (Kristie); his brother Leonard Byrd (Beverly) of Tuscon, AZ; and his sister-in-law Rheta of Delaware, OH. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Morgan Funeral Home (124 Fort St, Bremen, OH 43107). A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
