He was predeceased by: his father Robert D. Newbauer; his wife R. Carlyn Newbauer (Van DePitte); and his siblings, Donald, Merle, Charlie Newbauer and Roberta Newbauer.

He is survived by: his children, John A. (Carrie Newbauer II), Hannie Marie (Mark Wolfe), Jason A. (Anna Newbauer) and Jansen Newbauer of Palestine; his grandchildren, Logan, Lucas, Lydia, Monique, Marilyn, Magdalena, Rose, Travis Wooten, Thomas, Brianna, James, Xander and Jackson; his great grandchildren, Wyatt, Bentley and Ellie; his sisters, Ruth E. Avery (Newbauer) of Greenville and Lynn Newbauer of Greenville; his brother-in-law Theodore Van DePitte of Dayton; and his friend Stan Cox. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
