He was predeceased by: his parents, Carmen LaNeve and Alice McElroy LaNeve; and his siblings, Carmen LaNeve Jr., Sam LaNeve, Vincent LaNeve, Lawrence LaNeve, Virginia LaNeve, David LaNeve and Ricky LaNeve.

He is survived by: his children, Robin Schafer (Dan), Melissa Moore-Rowe, Darlene E. Schafer, Maggie Green-Nation, Paul C. LaNeve, Mellissa Cook (DJ), Lori Johnston (Rob), Dan Benton (Melissa), David Benton (Becky), Virginia Burdette and Paula Merritt Ricchino; his great grandchildren, TJ Stephens and Shawn Bunch; and his sisters, Alice Elaine Lindensmith of East Liverpool, Nancy Gale (Charles) of Columbus and Kay Closter (Don) of St Louis Missouri. He is also survived by his children, grand children, great grand children and wife.

On April 25 he was admitted to East Liverpool hospital after testing positive for Covid 19.
