He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Coughlin and Ruth Coughlin; and his wife Madelyn (Maddy). He is survived by: his sisters, Ruth Andrews (late Craig) and Cathy Breninghouse (late Bill); his children, Joe (Jeana), John (Hallie), Mike and Mary Bridget (Brian); and his grandchildren, Danny, Grace, Evy, Tommy, Emmett, Finn, Jack, Annie, Maggie, Ben, Mollie, John, Cora, Joy and James.
