It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Hammie Lee Jackson of Rittman, Ohio, born in Genoa, West Virginia, who passed away on September 14, 2022, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Jennings Jackson and Ruth Crabtree Jackson; his siblings, Anna Ruth Collins, Permella Asbury, Betty Lou Holbrook, J. B., Wendell and Andrew Jackson; and his nieces, Gladys Evelyn Porter and Emma Ruth Walker.

He is survived by: his sisters, Dora Collins of Kenova, WV, Gladys Jenkins of Huntington, WV and Mary Ellen Day (Billy) of Huntington; and his close friend Shawn Sheehan.

“Mr. J will be greatly missed. As children we lived across the street from him. He was always kind and caring. One of many memories was that he had his driveway concreted the entire length of his driveway, so that me and my sister had a safe place to ride our bikes. This way we didn't have to ride in the street. He was a great friend and neighbor to the Westover family, but I think I may miss him the most. I was always at his house growing up and as a young adult. I used to go with him to the store and he would let me drive his vehicles like a chauffer, just after getting my license at 16 years of age. He was a huge part of my life then and now. I will always have those memories and the wisdom he shared. Love you Mr. J!”
