He was predeceased by: his father Dwight McElroy; his wife Janet Hupp; and his siblings, James "Red" McElroy, Wilton "Whitey" McElroy and Dorothea Jean "Dottie" Davis.
He is survived by: his children, Connie Wilson (Denny) of Richwood, Jeff McElroy (Kendra) of Delaware, Tim McElroy of Richwood, Randy McElroy (Deb Brady) of Richwood, Robert McElroy (Teresa) of Richwood and Skip McElroy (Christine) of Marion. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
