He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Johnson and Effie Johnson; his wife Mary Johnson; his daughter Karen Johnson; his grandson Trenton Johnson; his daughter-in-law Doris Johnson; and his siblings, Dwight Johnson, Harold Johnson, Ida Johnson, Ernestine Robinson, Moses Robinson, David Robinson and Jacob Robinson.

He is survived by: his children, Cheryl "Sherry" Holloway and Mark Johnson (Paula); his adoptive daughters, Mary Jelks and Delores Groce; his sister Hattie Garrison; his granddaughters, April Johnson, Tacarra Davis, Senora Jelks, Tajuana "Nikki" Groce and Risa Long; and his great grandchildren, Terry "Boomer" Cornett III, Tylar Cornett, Kaia Long and Joshua Goshay. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jesse worked in real estate for 30 years and took great pride in his contributions to the housing sector.
