He was predeceased by: his father Mickey Vanek; his wife Dana Marie Vanek; and his brothers, Mickey Vanek and Ken Vanek. He is survived by: his sisters, Doreen Kalicki (Craig), Denise Strasshofer (Charles) and Renee Stefan (J. J.); and his sister-in-law Nancy Brenner (Chris). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
When COVID stunted his traveling, he took to building model ships and he completed three which he named COVID 1-3.
