He was predeceased by: his parents, Linda Shelton (Eakes) and Donald Ray Slaton; his brother Aaron Shelton Sr.; his grandparents, Bert and Cledith Crank; his nephew Shermaine Williams; and his niece Asia Thompson.
He is survived by: his children, David Shelton, Jr. of Columbus, Destiny Layne of Akron, Crissy Woods of Portsmouth and Angelique Clay of New Albany; his sisters, Melissa Woods of Columbus and Alycia Shelton of Columbus; his aunt Brenda Crank of Wisconsin; and his close friends, Carlton Greene and Careell Palmer. He is also survived by six nieces; ten nephews, a host of great nieces and nephews.
