Jay Gotschall Obituary
Jay (Bud) Gotschall Sr., 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2020, with family by his side at his son and daughter-in-law’s home. Born April 16, 1939 in Bloomingdale, Ohio, he was the son of the late Justin and Leila Howard Gotschall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Jean Lash, step-brother Ronnie Zollinger, brother-in-law’s Robert (Red) and wife Linda, Delmis, and Jim Nottingham. Jay worked many years at R & F Coal Company and proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a 32nd Degree Mason.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Yvonne L. Nottingham Gotschall; daughters, Kelly (Terry) Zelek of Adena: Kimi (Eric) Dodds of Westerville, Ohio; one son, Jay (Katherine) Gotschall Jr. of Rayland: three grandchildren, Jaycee Gotschall of Mt. Pleasant, Jesse (Nicole) Dodds, Morgan Dodds, and a great granddaughter Lylah Rose Dodds all of Westerville. There is one sister, Donna Kay (Michael) and two brothers, Walt (Sharon) Gotschall and Bob (Janice) Gotschall; special sister-in-law’s, Fran Nottingham and Debby Zollinger, and brother-in-law Charles Lash. In addition, his extended family, Tony (Emily) Zelek and sons Landon and Elliott Zelek, and daughter-in-law Katherine Gotschall’s children, Kayla, Dillon, and Derek.
Family and friends are invited to join the family at visitation on Friday, June 19, 2020 from 11 am to time of Memorial Services at 12 noon, observing social distancing, at Blackburn Funeral home, 324 High St., Hopedale, Ohio. The Hopedale American Legion, Post # 682 will provide military honors. Memorial contributions may be sent to your charity of choice in Jay’s memory.
