He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene C. Gauer and Edna P. Gauer (Vonstein); and his brother Donald E. Gauer. He is survived by: his wife Frances (Carpenter); his children, Gary Gauer (Becky) of Rootstown and Marilyn Ashe (David) of Hudson; his grandchildren, Paul, Nick Battaglia (Sarah), Rick, Ashley Gauer, Lindsey Metzger (Andy) and DJ Ashe; and his great grandchildren, Ella, Maddie Battaglia, Conor and Maisie Metzger.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The American Cancer Society or Hospice of Portage County.
