He was predeceased by: his parents, Alice Swigart (Rudder) and John Franklin Swigart Sr.; his sons, John Franklin Swigart III and Joey Meadows; and his brother Paul Swigart.

He is survived by: his wife Ruby Swigart (Duncan); and his children, Kenneth Swigart (Anne), Mary Alice Swigart, Danny Meadows (Lorena), Kevin Meadows (Dawn), Leisa Rhodes (Terry) and Jennifer Filmore. He is also survived by his 25 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
