He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Carpenter and Clemie Carpenter (Hayes); and his siblings, Lisa, Theresa Carpenter, Evelyn Ferris (Ed), Nathaniel Carpenter (Marlene) and Clovis Carpenter (Ruth).
He is survived by: his wife Sue; his children, Christopher Hopper of San Antonio, TX and Shanda Cole (Rob) of Kenova, WV; his siblings, Jay Carpenter of Tampa, FL, Shelton Carpenter, Kenneth Carpenter (Mary) of Vinemont, AL, Charlotte McCloud of Huntington, WV and Beatrice Johnson of Tampa, FL; his granddaughter Madalynn Cole; his nephew Paul Woodruff; and his close friends, John and Dotty Hagan. He is also survived by other nieces and nephews.
