He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Sr. Shears and Mary Shears (Fedora); his siblings, Irene Shears and Jerome Shears; and his son Peter Douglas Shears.
He is survived by: his wife Eleanor (Hedesh); his daughters, Barbara Shears, Renee Raisch (Sam) and Margo Shapiro (Myron); his daughter-in-law Laura Shears; his grandchildren, Anna Smith (Andy), Mary Mohr, Alli Shears, Lizzie Shears, Maggie Shears and Peter Shears; and his great grandchildren, Hudson and Cooper Smith.
