“In loving memory of Mary Elizabeth Thomas, I met Betty when I was barely old enough to go to the carryout by myself. We were the only two people in her store. I wanted to buy a candy bar, but didn’t have enough money. Betty let met buy one anyway and gave me an extra one. This generosity of Betty’s stuck with me these last 50 years. She was definitely one of a kind. May your heart and soul find peace and comfort. Ellen”
