He was predeceased by: his parents, William Royal and Dorthea Smith Royal; his son William Nelson Royal; his siblings, Lawrence, Tom, Charlie, Dick Royal, Geraldine Gibson, Nancy Meadows and Joy Murta; and his great grandchild Zane Williams.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon Alexander Royal; his children, Robert Lee Royal (Wanda) of Knoxville, TN, Mike Craft of Lucasville, Donna Lilly of Portsmouth, Pam Spires (Larry) of Lucasville, Patty Shaw of Portsmouth and Debbie Johnson (Bill) of Waverly; and his sisters, Cora Middleton of Portsmouth and Theresa Odell of Dayton. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
