She was predeceased by: her parents, Rev. Ernest George Burton and Grace Ramey Burton; her husband Donald Lee Smith; her son Dan Tipton; and her brothers, Ernest Burton, Jr. and Harold Burton.
She is survived by: her son Rick Smith (Pam) of Portsmouth; her sisters, Rosalee Johnson of Portsmouth, Polly Cole (Buddy) of Portsmouth and Thelma Wallace (Harry); her grandchildren, Danny Tipton and Donnie Smith (Kelley); and her great grandchildren, Rikki Smith, Taylor Tipton, Danny Lee Tipton and Joe Tipton.
