He was predeceased by: his stepfather Raymond "Pete" Mitter. He is survived by: his mother Marilyn Mitter; his brother Matthew Simms; his father Douglas Simms; his children, Brianna Elizabeth Simms, William and Bella Pompeo; and his half-siblings, Chris, James, David and Joy.
