He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Mortus and Freda Mortus (Balduf); his wife Virginia Patz; and his brothers, Donald Mortus and Norman Mortus.

He is survived by: his son Marty Mortus (Stephanie); and his brothers, Jack Mortus of Port Clinton and Robert Mortus of Port Clinton.
