He was predeceased by: his parents, Harley Hermes and Gertrude Hermes (Gumb); and his sister Evelyn Dreier. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Ahrens; his children, Kevin Hermes of Port Clinton and Julie Fontana of Port Clinton; his grandchildren, Nikolaus Fontana and Katherine Fontana; his sisters, Helen Mack of Michigan, Marcella Ann Besel of California, Lois Thurman of Kansas and Barbara Hermes of Oak Harbor; his nieces, Nancy Zweibel (Mike) of Nebraska, Ellen Graham (Jack) of Michigan and Dawn Thurman of Missouri; and his nephew Jerry Dreier (Liz) of Youngstown.
