He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard R. Bird and Marcella E. Bird (Mahon); and his son Robert James Bird. He is survived by: his wife Eileen (McCarthy); his daughters, Denise Stanziano, Erin Cresto (John), Kelly Reynolds (Scott), Colleen Speakman (Terry) and Christine Brenner (Joseph); his grandchildren, Alexandra, Kathryn (Tim), Taylor (Chris), Joshua (Jamie), Jason (Cinea), Jessie (Tyler), Kady (Craig), Eric, Zachary, Imilie, Beatrice, Joseph Dale, Maxwell Bird and Marcella; and his siblings, Robert Bird, Nancy DeMase and Frances Stonemetz (Dave). He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Stein Hospice, Sandusky, Ohio.
