He was predeceased by: his siblings, Francis Matthews, Kenneth Matthews, Leo Matthews, Phyllis Matthews Olphant, Lewis Matthews, Carl Matthews and Stanley Matthews; and his grandson Jeffrey Crawford.
He is survived by: his wife Rita Lewis; his sister Betty Matthews Belloma; his children, Shela Crawford (Buddy), Karla, Steve Martin, Bobby Matthews (Debbie), Daren Matthews (Jill) and Stacy Hughes (Darrell); his grandsons, Brent Matthews, Zach Crawford, D. J. Matthews, Josh Coon and Aaron Coon; his stepdaughter Shana Vanscoy (Danny); and his close friends, Shawn, Maggie Williams Jeff, Crystal Baughman, Jeffrey Baughman and Michael Oliver.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert's honor to the West Virginia State Farm Museum, 1458 Fairgrounds Road, Point Pleasant, WV 25550.
