He was predeceased by: his parents, Kent E. Welch and Lela Welch; his sons, Randy and James Welch; his granddaughters, Abby and Zoe Welch; his siblings, Lorene Gardner (William), Eugene Welch, Ercel Swindaman (Dick), Grace Gardner (Dale) and Mary Louise Smith (Gib); and his brother-in-law Bill Reed.

He is survived by: his wife Doris Welch of Polk; his children, Julie Rogers (Rod) of Ashland, Nancy Welch of Polk and Michael Welch (Cheryl) of Polk; his daughter-in-law Sandy Welch of Polk; his grandchildren, Shenna Cole (Seth), Joshua Welch (Lindsey), Bethany Szijarto, Aaron Welch (Tonya), Adam Welch (Jill), Missy Schmitz (Matt), Chad Rogers (Amanda), Courtney Bull (Josh), Jonathan Welch (Mara), Ashlee Lucas (Sean) and Reed Welch; and his sisters-in-law, Esther Welch of Polk and Barbie Daniels (Ralph) of Ashland.
