She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Nichols and Carlyn Nichols (Reed); and her stepfather Lauren Dean Smith. She is survived by: her daughters, Kelly Lodge (Don) and Kari Balalioui; her siblings, Robert K. Nichols Jr. (Kathy), Steve Nichols (Lisa) and Cyndi Brunette; her granddaughter Carly Lauren Cook; her niece Kimberly McAuley (Sean); and her stepdaughter Jessica Miller. She is also survived by many loving relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio Harness Horseman's Association, Scholarship fund in memory of Carol Shuman.
