He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Langston and Willie Bell Smith; his spouse Jean D. Armstrong; and his sister Mary Alice Austin. He is survived by: his children, Dian Godsey of Hilliard, Doris "Louise" Jackson of Piqua, Barbara Vaughan of Piqua, Tom "Chucky" Smith of Piqua and Richard Smith of Chicago, Illinois; and his siblings, John Smith (Julia Mae) of Cleveland, Henry Smith (Dorothy) of Aberdeen, Mississippi, Robert Smith (Francis) of Aberdeen, Mississippi, Ben Smith (Mary Nell) of Aberdeen, Mississippi, Louise Smith of Aberdeen Mississippi and Willie Mae Pargo of Aberdeen Mississippi. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.
